Speech and Language Therapist ( SALT ) – Band 7 – Neurological Rehabilitation
Location: Tonbridge, Kent
Salary: £47,810 – £50,275 per annum
Hours: Full time or Part Time Hours available
About the Role
AXIA Healthcare are delighted to be partnering with a highly regarded specialist neurological rehabilitation hospital in Tonbridge, Kent. This welcoming and well-respected service supports individuals living with neurological conditions resulting from acquired brain injury, stroke, or progressive conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.
We are seeking an experienced Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to join their skilled and passionate team. In this senior role, you will combine advanced clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities – shaping service delivery, mentoring colleagues, and ensuring the highest standards of patient-centred care.
Due to the hospital’s location, being able to drive is highly recommended.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SLT looking to take ownership of their caseload, lead service improvements, and inspire a small but growing team.
What You’ll Be Doing

Lead the Speech and Language Therapy provision within the service, ensuring best practice and clinical excellence

Manage a varied and complex caseload, using advanced evidence-based, person-centred approaches to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions

Undertake comprehensive assessments to inform and oversee tailored treatment plans

Take a lead role in care planning, complex case discussions and rehabilitation strategies

Provide expert clinical supervision, mentorship and professional guidance to junior SLT colleagues

Drive service development initiatives, including reviewing and improving clinical pathways and protocols

Contribute to and influence interdisciplinary team (IDT) decision-making, goal setting and outcome reviews

Lead and deliver staff training to enhance communication and swallowing management skills across the wider team

Liaise with external agencies and community services to ensure smooth discharge planning and continuity of care

Maintain accurate, timely clinical records to HCPC and RCSLT standards
What We’re Looking For
-
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, with RCSLT and HCPC registration

Completed Dysphagia training, with advanced competencies in assessment and management
-
Evidence of substantial post-qualification experience within neurological rehabilitation, including complex case management

Proven leadership skills – able to inspire, guide and support a team

Strong track record of service improvement or pathway development

Expertise in managing cognitive-communication disorders and complex swallowing needs

Skilled in the use of relevant outcome measures and assessment tools

Excellent communication, influencing and collaborative working skills across all levels
