Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) – Band 6 – Neurological Rehabilitation
Location: Tonbridge, Kent
Salary: £32,306 – £39,027 per annum
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week (Monday – Friday)
About the Role
AXIA Healthcare are delighted to be partnering with a specialist neurological rehabilitation hospital in Tonbridge, Kent. This welcoming and well-respected service supports individuals living with neurological conditions resulting from acquired brain injury, stroke, or progressive conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.
We’re looking for a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join their dedicated team. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive environment where your expertise will be valued and your professional growth encouraged.
Due to the hospital’s location, being able to drive is highly recommended.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with leadership experience, as you’ll be guiding a small team of two – with the potential for the team to grow over time.
What You’ll Be Doing

Manage a varied caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence-based, person-centred approaches to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions

Carry out thorough assessments and use your findings to inform tailored treatment plans

Play a key role in care planning and rehabilitation strategies

Work closely with patients and colleagues to set meaningful goals and regularly review progress

Use outcome measures to track and enhance therapy effectiveness

Offer clinical supervision, advice and support to junior SLT colleagues

Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings and produce clear, detailed reports as required

Contribute to staff training and development across the wider team

Support discharge planning and liaise with community services to ensure continuity of care

Maintain all clinical records to HCPC and RCSLT standards
What We’re Looking For
-
Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, with RCSLT and HCPC registration

Completed Dysphagia training
-
Evidence of ongoing professional development and learning

Experience working with patients in a neurological setting

Skilled in managing cognitive communication disorders

Knowledge of relevant outcome measures and assessment tools

Proven ability to establish therapy goals and deliver evidence-based interventions

Strong contribution to interdisciplinary processes, including goal setting, meetings and reviews
