Client Case Study – How We Supported Bupa With a 150 Hires

AXIA Healthcare and Bupa Healthcare have enjoyed a long and prosperous working partnership, with AXIA Healthcare serving as their primary supplier for permanent clinical positions in the UK.

After the initial wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bupa encountered an unprecedented shortage of caregivers and nurses, a challenge mirrored across the healthcare industry.

They approached us with a business-critical task: recruiting 150 nurses and caregivers within 3 months and on an exclusive basis. This project spanned various locations throughout the UK, including some of their most remote and challenging service areas to find suitable applicants.

Time was of the essence, and the consequences of not meeting this demand were significant.

AXIA Healthcare rose to the challenge… After extensive consultations with Bupa’s recruitment team and decision-makers, we meticulously crafted a proposal that was approved by their procurement team.

Our proposal involved a substantial reallocation of our internal resources to ensure we had the necessary team to ensure the projects was successful. At its core, this project was a testament to our ability to attract and engage with Bupa’s desired talent pool. But its success was also dependent on a harmonious partnership with Bupa’s internal recruitment and onboarding team.

This undertaking marked a considerable increase in activity for Bupa’s talent acquisition and onboarding efforts. To ease this added workload, our offering included comprehensive embedded recruitment process outsourcing, extending to outsourced onboarding procedures.

The project commenced in early August 2021. Over the following three months, AXIA Healthcare introduced a substantial volume of candidates, successfully achieving all the agreed targets and key performance indicators, including securing the desired 150 job offers. This heightened recruitment effort not only addressed Bupa’s immediate staffing needs but also helped them re-align with their longer-term internal recruitment plans.

We have continued to work closely with Bupa since then, often as their sole supplier for permanent clinical staffing during that time.
